What is CURRENT® Web Mail?

CURRENT Web Mail is a server-based e-mail system that allows you to access your CURRENT Broadband® e-mail account from any computer that is connected to the Internet.

 

Why use CURRENT Web Mail?

The CURRENT Web Mail application and the e-mail messages you access with it reside on our servers, not your local computer. This provides you the following benefits:

 

·          Ability to check e-mail anytime, anywhere you have a PC and an Internet connection.

·          Save valuable storage space on your computer.

·          Never need to worry about your e-mail program files becoming corrupt, overwritten or misplaced.

·          E-mail program software upgrades are automatic and hassle-free.

 

What are the requirements for CURRENT Web Mail?

·         Windows® 98, 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP(recommended), Vista and Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Firefox® 1.05 or higher, or Mozilla 1.7 or higher

·         Mac® OS X 10.2.x or later and Firefox 1.05 or higher

 

How do I access CURRENT Web Mail?

To launch CURRENT Web Mail, perform the following:

 

1.       Click MyMail from the www.current.net homepage or enter https://mail.current.net into the address field of your web browser and hit enter.

2.       Enter your CURRENT Broadband username and password.

 

How do I utilize CURRENT Web Mail from a Mac?

In order to utilize CURRENT Web Mail from a Mac, you must use Firefox Internet browser 1.05 or higher. If you are not currently using the Firefox Internet browser, please follow these simple steps to download the browser and start accessing your CURRENT Web Mail.

 

1.       Download Firefox. 

2.       Once you have downloaded the Firefox.dmg file, double click the ‘Firefox Disk Image’ to open it in Finder. Then drag the Firefox application onto your hard disk. Drag the icon to your Dock if you would prefer it to appear there.

3.       Open the Firefox browser.

a.       Click the ‘Firefox’ header in the toolbar and set the homepage location to mail.current.net.

b.       Click ‘Check Now’ if you would like to make Firefox your default browser.

c.       To rename the Firefox icon to CURRENT Web Mail (recommended if it’s not going to be your default browser), click on the icon and change it.

 

Use your Firefox browser each time you check your CURRENT Web Mail.

 

What is the difference between my desktop e-mail program and my CURRENT Web Mail account?
CURRENT Web Mail’s interface and functionality will be familiar to users of popular desktop e-mail programs. The key difference lies in how you access and store your e-mail. Desktop e-mail programs automatically download your e-mail to your computer while CURRENT Web Mail allows you the freedom to access your e-mail anytime, anywhere you have access to a computer with a web browser and an Internet connection.

 

I am worried about privacy. Is CURRENT Web Mail secure?

Yes. CURRENT Web Mail utilizes industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology. To further protect your privacy, you should also follow common sense precautions:

 

·          Don't share your password.

·          Pick passwords that are difficult to guess (e.g., that are not in the dictionary).

·          Use the 'logout' button to exit CURRENT Web Mail when you are finished.
 

How much disk space do I have for my e-mail messages?
Each unique CURRENT Broadband e-mail username (that is, both primary and sub-accounts) may use up to 100MB of storage space.

 

Can I send/receive emails that contain HTML and graphics in CURRENT Web Mail?

Yes. CURRENT Web Mail provides you the option to send and receive messages containing graphics or HTML.

 

Can I import or export my CURRENT Web Mail address book to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express or vice versa?
At this time, CURRENT Web Mail, like most Web Mail applications, does not support this function.
