This is the Privacy Policy of CURRENT Communications Services, LLC (“CURRENT”). It describes how CURRENT collects information from users of CURRENT Broadband® Service and other CURRENT services (collectively, “Services”), and from persons who access and use CURRENT’s web site, and what we do and don’t do with such information.
CURRENT reserves the right to revise or amend this and other policies and agreements at our discretion. Notice of any revision, amendment, or modification will be posted on CURRENT's Web site at www.current.net/OurPolicies/ and CURRENT will provide an opportunity for subscribers to opt out of the revised Privacy Policy by canceling their account with CURRENT.
TYPES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT CURRENT COLLECTS
Billing Information
When they sign up for our service, subscribers provide personal information that is necessary for billing and account management. The information includes: name, address, telephone number, email address and billing information (such as a credit card number). This information is not shared with third parties who are not affiliates of CURRENT unless specifically stated otherwise. Such information is shared with third parties assisting CURRENT in the performance of billing and provision of customer support, or in the enabling, provision or maintenance of the underlying service to which a user subscribes, to the extent required for CURRENT to obtain such assistance.
Email Addresses
When you send email inquiries to CURRENT, the return email address may be used to answer the inquiry. CURRENT does not use the return email address for any other purpose and does not share the return email address with any third party other than affiliates of CURRENT.
Information Provided in Customer Surveys
We may periodically conduct customer surveys to understand how the Service is performing for you. You have no obligation to participate in these surveys, but we encourage you to do so as we will use the information to improve our service to you. We may take individual customer survey responses and combine them to create summarized responses to the survey questions. This summarized, non-customer specific information may be shared with third parties in some instances. Customer-specific survey information will not be shared with any third party who is not an affiliate of CURRENT unless specifically stated in such survey.
Data from Cookies
A “cookie” is a small data file that can be placed on your computer’s hard drive when you visit certain Web sites. CURRENT may use cookies to collect, store, or track information for statistical purposes, to improve the products and services we provide, or to manage our communications networks. Our cookies do not enable third parties who are not affiliates of CURRENT to access any of your customer information.
Advertisers and other third parties that have links on CURRENT’s Web site may also use their own cookies. We do not control use of these cookies and completely disclaim any responsibility for any information collected through them.
Information from Public Forums
Any information that you disclose in public areas of our Web site or the Internet becomes public information. You should use caution when deciding to disclose personal information in any public areas. CURRENT has no control over the use of your information disclosed in such public areas, and we disclaim any responsibility for the use of such information by anyone.
Data from Internet Purchases
You can purchase products and services and/or register to receive materials, such as a brochure, product information, etc., at many Web sites. In order to do so, you will be asked to provide contact information, such as your name, address, email address, phone number, and billing information. CURRENT does not maintain this information when it is sent over CURRENT’s network has no control over any third party's use of any personal information you provide when placing such an order. You should exercise care when doing so.
CURRENT'S DATA SECURITY POLICY
CURRENT has security measures in place to protect against the accidental or deliberate loss, misuse, or alteration of the information transmitted over our network or stored on our servers. Our efforts to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems are reasonable, but we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third party “hackers” from illegally obtaining this information.
DISCLOSURE TO CURRENT’S AFFILIATES
CURRENT may share or disclose all data it collects to any or all of its affiliates.
CURRENT CUSTOMER HOME PAGE
Google Inc., a CURRENT affiliate, provides news reports and other information for CURRENT’s Customer Home Page. CURRENT provides all of its subscribers’ username and password information to Google for purposes of providing Customer Home Page services. When you view content provided by, or use services provided by, Google as part of the CURRENT Customer Home Page, Google’s Privacy Policy applies to any information you provide.
BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS
In the event that CURRENT (or its parent company) is subject to a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or selling a portion of its assets, subscribers’ individual information may be part of the assets transferred. If as a result of the business transaction this Policy is revised, notice of any revision, amendment, or modification will be posted on CURRENT's Web site at www.current.net/OurPolicies/.
ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OR OTHER LEGAL REASONS
In addition to the uses and disclosure mentioned above, CURRENT may disclose personal information regarding your use of the Service if we believe that it is reasonable to do so to in order to satisfy (i) any local, state, federal or international law, including but not limited to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, or (ii) legitimate governmental or judicial requests or orders for such information. We may also disclose any such information when it is necessary to (a) identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our Acceptable Use Policy, (b) installation, implementation, provision, and billing for the Service or (c) protect CURRENT, its affiliates or our subscribers.
