CA Internet Security Suite Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need Internet Security software?
It is estimated that more than 250 viruses are being launched over the Internet every month, and hackers use sophisticated software to sniff out “open” PC’s. In addition, cyber-crooks launch programs that try to steal personal information on your PC and track your surfing habits. What are the system requirements?
You will need the following at a minimum:
• Windows 2000-SP+3 or XP-SP1+, or Vista
• 256 MB RAM
• 300 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
• 60 MB hard-disk space
• Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
• Internet access
For Anti-Spam:
• Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002/2003 or Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5/6.0 or higher
• One or more POP3 or MAPI e-mail accounts
Are Apple Macintosh computers supported?
Macintosh computer operating systems are not supported at this time.
How do I sign-up and download CA Internet Security Suite?
Click the "Sign Up and Download" button at the bottom of this page. Simply enter your CURRENT Broadband® username and password. Your license key and download link will then be e-mailed to you.
Can I install CA Internet Security Suite on all of the PCs in my house?
Yes. In addition to your primary account, you are eligible for one CA Internet Security software license for each CURRENT Broadband sub-account you have. Additional e-mail sub-accounts can be purchased through the MyAccount section portion of our website if needed.
What happens if I delete a sub-account that has an CA Internet Security Suite software license key associated with it?
Upon deletion of a sub-account, you will be asked to supply another sub-account to which your CA Internet Security Suite software license is to be transferred to. Alternatively, you may choose to edit your sub-account address and automatically transfer your CA Internet Security Suite license to that new address, or cancel your CA Internet Security Suite software license key.
What happens if I cancel my CURRENT Broadband account? Will I be able to continue using CA Internet Security Suite?
CURRENT Broadband provides its subscribers with CA Internet Security Suite free of charge just for being a valued customer. If you cancel your CURRENT Broadband account, your CA Internet Security Suite license will also be canceled.
Do I need to uninstall my present anti-virus software prior to CA Internet Security software installation?
Yes. If you presently have anti-virus, firewall or spyware software installed other than a prevoius CA product, you will need to un-install those software programs prior to CA Interent Security Suite software installation. Refer to your existing anti-virus/firewall/spyware help and support information for un-install instructions.
Can I install components of CA Internet Security Suite independently of one another?
Yes. CA Anti-virus, CA Personal Firewall, CA Anti-Spyware and CA Anti-Spam are installed by default; however, you can de-select any one of the programs during the installation process.
I have a router with a hardware firewall. Do I still need CA Internet Security Suite?
Yes. A hardware-based firewall utilizing Network Address Translation (NAT) is a good intrusion defense, but it still leaves your PC open to hackers and privacy invasion attacks. We recommend CA Internet Security Suite to more reliably protect your computer and your privacy.
What is a Virus?
A computer virus is a form of malicious software commonly referred to as "malware". Other forms of malware are worms, Trojan horses, and zombies. CA Anti-Virus protects your computer and your private information from all of these types of malware.

How does firewall software work?
A software firewall monitors all incoming Internet traffic and allows through only what is known or trusted. The traffic enters through "ports" used by your PC. CA Personal Firewall allows ports that need to be open and closes off those that do not. It then monitors traffic on all open ports.
What is Spyware?
Spyware can steal your credit card numbers and passwords, switch your home page or re-direct your web searches to unwanted sites. It can also display annoying ads, slow your PC to a crawl, or even control it remotely. CA Anti-Spyware protects against a wide range of spyware threats that can expose your confidential information and diminish your PC’s performance.
What is Spam?
Spam is the unwanted and unsolicited e-mail messages and advertisements that you receive in your Inbox. How does the CA Personal Firewall know which programs and processes to allow to connect to the Internet?
After installation, you'll see several alerts when you first start using CA Personal Firewall. Don't worry, alerts don't necessarily mean you are under attack - they help you tailor your security to your individual needs. If you are not sure what to do if an alert message appears concerning an unfamiliar program or process, we recommend that you select NO to prevent connection to the Internet for optimum security and privacy. You can always change the permission settings later. Or, an Internet search of the program or process contained in the alert can reveal more information about it.
